The 10-A-Day Speaks Gavel Club is a nonprofit educational organization that is affiliated with Toastmasters International. We teach public speaking, communication, time management, and leadership skills to students in grades K-12.

Our goal is to train and develop effective communicators and leaders who possess a high level of confidence in their public speaking ability.

There are many benefits to being in the Gavel Club. As students participate in the program, they will learn various forms of communication including:

• Using voice inflections to add meaning and interest to your speech.
• Using body language and facial expressions to convey a message.
• The importance of eye contact during communication.
• The understanding that listening is as important in communication as speaking.

The program also helps to improve the members’ ability to give presentations, debates, impromptu and extemporaneous speaking while expanding their vocabulary through elements such as our Word of the Day.

We provide effective feedback and constructive evaluations in a mutually supportive and positive learning environment, which is necessary for our members to grow and retain what they are taught.
